Dell Studio XPS 16 Laptop Review
Dell Studio XPS 16 equipped with Intel Core 2 Duo P7450 processor (2.13GHz/3MB/1066MHz) 2GBDDR3 memory, 320GBSATA hard drive. Dell Studio XPS 16 (S510738CN) using ATI Mobility Radeon HD3670 graphics, with 16.0 inches LED widescreen and standard resolution of 1280 × 720. As a home entertainment machine, Studio XPS16 has a good video output interface.
Design and Build
Dell launches the Studio XPS 16 laptop that features the product performance combined with attractive design, studio XPS 16 begins with glossy obsidian black lid with genuine leather trim on top of the laptop.Studio XPS 16 in the exterior design continues the advantages of M1330 and M1530,it designs wedge-shaped profile, slot-loading optical drive, multimedia touch buttons, etc. A wide band of genuine leather near the spine looks great and provides a comfortable surface to grip when you carry the machine. The full-size keyboard is comfortable to type on, and the flat-top keys feature letters and symbols that are pleasantly backlit by a soft white glow. The same light illuminates the strip of multimedia control keys above the keyboard, easy to touch the volume and mute commands or play/pause/skip for music and DVD playback. there have a large touchpad below the keyboard instead of the mouse easily.
Screen ,Display and Audio
The 16.0" 1080p Full HD RGBLED ultra widescreen display that is the studio XPS 16 has been in use, and the LCD screen can provide more clear, beautiful and smooth images, it allows you to enjoy a more comfortable, also edit high-definition movies resolution photos. The screen resolution of 1920x1080 will bring you a perfect visual beauty, then you and your friends can enjoy high-definition movies with the Blu-ray drive, it looks so nice from low angle view. Colors are vibrant and well-saturated, making the machine a joy to use for photo and video work. and it boasts a relatively high 300 nits of brightness. The Studio XPS 16 has built-in upconverting technology that enables view more clearly. And there is a a pair of 7-watt Dolby 5.1 speakers beside the keyboard which can provided loud and clear audio, but it have some slight audio distortion when we maxed out the volume.
Keyboard, Touch Controls
The Studio XPS 16's keyboard is one of the nicer keyboards I've used on a desktop replacement notebook. Studio XPS 16 uses full-size keyboard, and the speaker set on both side of the keyboard, so the keyboard does not look so great, also equipped with a white LED backlight allows you to type in the dark. Touch panels are also quite satisfactory, its position seems a bit to the left, that is in response to the people's habit of typing .There have LED backlit touch-sensitive media buttons at the top of the keyboard, the backlight will light up when pressed to, and then slowly fade, the user does not have any interference with it , it also help extend battery life.

The port selection on the Studio XPS 16 is quite good for a notebook of this size ,

The Rear side of XPS 16 laptop: No ports, just battery and heat exhaust.
The Left side of XPS 16 laptop: Security lock slot, VGA, TV tuner antenna jack (under rubber cover), Ethernet, DisplayPort, HDMI, two USB, microphone jack and two headphone jack.
The right side of XPS 16 laptop: Express Card slot, card reader, FireWire, slot-loading optical drive, combo USB/eSATA port, and power jack. Etc.
The Studio XPS 16 built-in HDMI is a very nice thing to have for those that want digital video and audio output. However, there are no lugs/screw posts for the VGA cable. While the lack of posts makes the VGA connection look "cleaner" it isn't convenient for people who regularly leave their notebook connected to an external monitor. On the plus side, the addition of DisplayPort makes up for any complaints.With FireWire, three USB ports (including one combo USB/eSATA port), a media card reader, two headphone jacks, microphone jack, ExpressCard slot and Ethernet port you're well equipped ports wise.
CPU Performance, Battery Life
The dell studio 16 built in 4-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 processor and 4GB of RAM (expandable to 8GB) which can meet the operating speed of Vista operating system. The Dell XPS 16 hard drive capacity is 500GB. The video card of the Dell XPS 16 is ATI Mobility Radeon 1GB. The sound system runs Soundblaster X-Fi It is available in different CPU processor speed including Intel quad core i7, Intel quad core i5 and Intel duo core 2.2Ghz..Dell XPS 16 is equipped with the wireless card Intel® 5300 WLAN Wireless-N (3×3) Mini Card.
We can choose 6-cell or 9 cell battery. The battery life of 9 cell is longer than the 6-cell, but the weight of the notebook will also increase the relative. The 9-cell battery life time is about 2 hours and 50 minutes when the Vista system running smoothly and the screen brightness is 80% and the wireless turned on.. The relatively short endurance of 2 hours and 25 minutes with the six-cell battery on the LAPTOP Battery Test.
